At MacLean Sport Physiotherapy, our number one priority has always been the health and safety of our patients. We wanted to reach out to all of our patients regarding the COVID-19 virus, and to let you know the steps we are taking to alleviate any potential concerns. We can assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure our clinic is a safe place during the time of an outbreak. The situation is constantly evolving and we are doing our very best to keep updated and react accordingly.
We are keeping apprised of positions and information from the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations, the Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Public Health Ontario and the Public Health Agency of Canada to determine the best steps on how to run the clinic during these challenging times. As of today the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario are advising that all non urgent care should be discontinued and only urgent/acute care needs should be addressed at this time. The College recognizes that for some clinics that this will mean closing entirely while for other clinics it will mean modifying service to treat those most in need while ensuring diligence with reducing risk of spread of the virus during these essential treatments.
In response we have gone through appointments for the week of March 23 to 28th and selectively called patients that we determined were in acute situations where the risk of non treatment would be significant (ie. Recent post operative rehabilitation, injuries at high risk of regression resulting in high levels of pain and disability). We will be rescheduling all other appointments at this time. If you did not receive a phone call and have an appointment booked for next week please consider it cancelled. We will call to reschedule by Friday. If you feel that you are in need of treatment next week and were misclassified, please call us and we will review your situation.
In addition to triaging patients we are also doing the following to ensure patient safety:
We also follow strict cleaning policies for the protection of both our staff and our patients. Each staff member maintains rigorous personal hygiene standards for every patient interaction. We use hospital-grade disinfectants across the entire office, with extensive instrument and room cleaning after each patient to ensure a safe and clean environment. Please rest assured that we are following local and national updates daily, and will continue to maintain the highest level of safety and patient care that you have come to expect. If you have any questions regarding your future appointments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for being a valued patient with MacLean Sport Physiotherapy. We appreciate your continued trust and confidence. Together we can overcome these challenging circumstances and continue your path to greater health! We look forward to taking care of you at your next scheduled appointment.
For those patients who cannot be seen please email any questions regarding their injuries and Richard or Daniel will provide advice on how to continue to manage your injury and modify or progress your exercises. In addition, we are looking at virtual treatment options which would allow for virtual reassessment and demonstrations that may be useful in supporting your recovery.
Please feel free to contact us if you have and questions or concerns! Stay safe and well!
